TO SCHEDULE A 3D PRINTING PROJECT:
- FIND a project (see Thingiverse link above) or Design one (see Tinkercad link above- you will have to create an account)
- Save your design's .stl file. DO NOT just save the picture as the 3D printer can only read STL files!
In Thingiverse, find the 'thing files' tab and click on the .stl file to download. The file will end up in the 'downloads' on the computer.
You then have to move that file from the computer into your network folder. You must click on the folder in the bottom bar and a window will open. In this window, make sure your network folder is showing up on the left side, then (still on the left side of this window) click on 'downloads', find your STL file, and drag it to your network folder. Make sure it's there otherwise we cannot see it from the library circulation computer (it's the only one attached to the 3D printer!!).
Note the name of the item.
Do not save the zip file.
3. THEN ... see Ms. Osur or Mrs. Foster to have your project put on the list to be printed.
4. Place your name on the list of 'Projects to be Printed' so we know which one is yours
It may be several days before your project is printed. Projects can take from 30 minutes to 3 hours to print depending on size and solidity. Your project may be scaled down in size if is deemed to be too large, will take too long to print or takes too much plastic filament to complete. The color of your project will depend on what filament is in the printer at the time of printing.
